Chinese New Year

This week we have continued to learn about Chinese New Year, we have learnt about the zodiac animals and know we are now in the Year of the Rat. We joined our friends at Thistle Hill for a Chinese Banquet! We ate noodles, rice, spring rolls, prawn crackers and some of us tried sweet and sour sauce.

We learnt a story about willow painting and then had a go and painting our own willow plate. We have used calligraphy brushes and ink to write Chinese Characters. In maths we have learnt our number bonds to 5, we have learnt all the different ways to make 5 and are beginning to learn them to 10.

Richmond Academy is a primary school in Sheerness where our children are excited and motivated to engage in rich and challenging experiences, both inside and outside of their classroom. We have high ambitions for all of our children, with staff planning carefully to meet each child’s needs and stage of development, ensuring our children get off to a great start in their education. Child initiated play based learning is at the heart of our practice. We carefully plan for opportunities, activities and experiences that develop all of our children into independent, resilient and confident learners.
